SOC analysts are often the first to see and respond to cybersecurity events. They report on cyber threats and initiate any changes needed to protect the organization.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Stay updated on the latest malware and security threats.
- Provide detailed technical assistance with remediation and mitigation efforts, often inthe form of written communication.
- Create comprehensive assessment report that identify root causes and remediation strategies.
- Monitor various ticket queues with the ability to prioritize tickets based circumstances.
- Monitor internal communication channels for questions from external teams
- 24*7 monitoring of alerts and raising of incidents.
- Assist Senior Analysts in incident investigation and response.
- Perform initial triage of events as predefined playbooks.Investigate security events from Various sources.
- Follow-up for closure of security incidentsraised.
- Continuously look for opportunities to enhance the efficacy of the monitor activity, review logs beyond the increased alerts and identify outliers that can be investigated.
REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATION
- SOC analysts
- must have administrative skills in several operating systems, such As windows, OS X, and Linux.
- SOC analysts are (or become) proficient in basic shel scripting(MUST), creating rules insecurity tools, or other log-searching query languages and methods.
- These professionals are required to handle common security incidents independently,but know when to escalate to higher transfer support and assistance.
- Knowledge in anyone programming language.
