They are looking for an Autonomous and
proficient Security Analyst who is passionate
about Cyber Security, Fraud and Abuse. As a
Security Analyst at Digital Ocean, you will join
a dynamic team dedicated to identify,
investigate, and prevent fraudulent activities
against DigitalOCean’s Platform.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performing real-time monitoring ofSecurity Events, fraudulent and abusiveactivities across DigitalOcean’senvironment.
- Investigate, identify and prevent ormitigate abusive activities such asintrusion attempts, DDoS, malwaredistribution, phishing attacks, etc.originating from (or) to DigitalOceanPlatform.
- Leverage industry standard securitytechnologies such as SIEM, EDR and othermonitoring tools to detect, investigate andrespond to security alerts.
- Conduct proactive hunts to detect andeliminate security threats.
- Locating trends in abuse/threat vectors,communicating with leadership to appriseof extent, and advocating for appropriateproduct changes to prevent futureOCCurrences.
- Work within a ticket management systemwith specific daily operational level targetscompleted with a quality resolution.
- Vetting abuse claims, responding toreporters and helping customers get backon the platform.Engineering approaches to gatheringsecurity data, turning it into usefulinsights, and working with tech teams toresolve threats.
- Responsible for the process to reduce falsepositives while preventing the bad-actors.
- Escalating security incidents to SeniorAnalyst or DFIR teams as needed fordeeper analysis and remediation.
- Establishing an understanding ofDigitalOcean’s entire productionenvironment, from applications toinfrastructure, keeping up-to-date withmaterial changes and future directions.
- Building strong relationships with theother technical teams across ourengineering and infrastructure functions.

- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalentexperience with 1 or more years ofexperience in Security operations.
- Knowledge of Security Information &Event Management (SIEM)
- knowledge of the Security OperationCenter (SOC)
- Understanding of TCP/IP concepts,application protocols and knowledge ofdatabase structures and working withUnix/Linux.
- Intellectual Curiosity and Self-Motivationto perform complex tasks.
- Clear written and verbal communicationsskills to include; technical writing,presenting.
- Consistently improving security as theplatform scales, driving continuousimprovement through data collection andcorrelation, being mindful that securityshould be an efficiency enabler for thebusiness – not a detractor.
